Introducing the "Castle Rock Civic" Demo Community

The "Castle Rock Civic" Demo Community is a ficticious demonstration community to showcase the features of Community Builder. Here residents of the Castle Rock Civic community can meet and stay in touch with neighbors and keep up with the surrounding area.

  • Introduce yourself to the community by signing up. In your profile include your address and, optionally, phone number. This will put you on the community map and phone list, both of which are available only to other registered users.
  • Contact other users directly by finding them in the list and clicking the contact tab. Your email address will never be shared on the site, but other users can contact you if your profile is configured to allow it.
  • Stop in at the forum for a discussion on various topics. You can create a poll to sample what other community members think about ideas that concern us all.
  • Head over to the event calendar to see what's coming up in the community. Planning an event and want to invite the community? You can add your own event.
  • The front page features the newest articles. All articles are filed by topic.
  • Fresh news from other websites covering the area is on the news page.
  • Subscribe to get email on new things from the community. You can choose the types of emails that you will be receive on your profile page.
  • Want to moderate a forum or help edit the site? Contact the community host and you can get started.
  • If you want to contribute something to the front page, you can submit an article. Once an editor reviews it you will see it on the front page.
  • Have a question about the site? Contact the host.

Use Google Earth to view historical Douglas County images

The Douglas Country Historical Research Center has scanned historical aerial photos of the county

“We have aerial photos from 1937, 1955, 1962, 1967, 1975, 1988 and 1999.”

Those interested in seeing the photos should visit Google Earth at http://earth.google.com/ and double-click the globe at the approximate location of Douglas County. Each subsequent double-click will zoom in more.

Colorado Annexation Rules

The Colorado state constitution specifies annexation rules that municipalities must follow. These are distilled on the City of Littleton's website:

http://www.littletongov.org/comdev/annexation.asp

Which contains the following quote:

CRS defines the procedures and limitations to be allowed. Unless the property is an "enclave” totally surrounded by the City for a period of at least three years, annexation cannot occur without the landowners' permission.
